When you meet someone for the first time, you share basic information to start a conversation. At A2 level, you’ll learn simple phrases to say your name, where you’re from, what you do, and what you like—and how to ask the same questions politely.
1. Basic Information About You
Use these to introduce yourself:
- Hello! My name is Ana.
- I’m from Mexico. / I’m Mexican.
- I’m a student. / I work in a hospital.
- I live in Madrid.
- I like music and hiking.
✅ Keep it short and friendly!
2. Questions to Keep the Conversation Going
After introducing yourself, ask questions like:
- What’s your name?
- Where are you from?
- What do you do? (job or student)
- Where do you live?
- What do you like doing?
✅ Always respond politely: “Nice to meet you!”
3. Polite Responses and Follow-Up
Use these to sound friendly and engaged:
- Nice to meet you! / Pleased to meet you!
- Really? That’s interesting!
- How long have you lived here?
- Do you like it here?
⚠️ Avoid personal questions on first meeting (age, salary, relationship status).
