How This Quiz Works
- All 20 questions are randomly selected from a pool of 50 — each session gives different ones
- Each question presents three adjectives in random order. Only one sequence follows standard English adjective order.
- Hints explain the correct order without giving the answer directly.
- If you're wrong, the correct sequence and a clear explanation appear below.
- After finishing, click "Check Answers" to view the full answer key at the bottom of the page.
- Click "Change Questions" to get a new quiz with different items.
Standard Adjective Order:
- Opinion (beautiful, ugly, lovely) — most subjective
- Size (big, small, tiny)
- Age (old, new, ancient)
- Shape (round, square, rectangular)
- Color (red, blue, black)
- Origin (French, American, wooden)
- Material (silk, metal, plastic)
- Purpose (sleeping bag, racing car) — often ends in -ing or noun
- Noun — final word
- Rule: Never change this order. Even native speakers fail if they do.
