When you’re in a new place or don’t understand something, you need to ask questions politely. At A2 level, you’ll learn simple, respectful phrases to ask for help, directions, or information—so people are happy to assist you.
1. Asking for Help
Use these polite phrases:
- Can you help me, please? (common and friendly)
- Could you help me, please? (more polite)
- I need help with… (direct but clear)
- Do you speak English? (when you need language help)
✅ Always say “please” and “thank you.”
2. Asking for Directions
Use these to find a place:
- Excuse me, where is the nearest bank?
- How can I get to the train station?
- Is there a pharmacy near here?
- Can you tell me the way to the post office?
✅ Start with “Excuse me” to be polite.
3. Asking for General Information
Use these to get facts or details:
- What time does the museum open?
- How much is this?
- Do you have this in a smaller size?
- When does the bus leave?
⚠️ Avoid demanding phrases like “Tell me!” or “Where is it?” without “excuse me” or “please.”
