In a quiet forest at night, fireflies light up the dark sky. These small insects use their bodies to make a special light called bioluminescence. They flash their lights to talk to each other and find friends. Scientists say fireflies are like living lanterns.
One summer evening, a boy named Alex saw hundreds of fireflies near a river. He learned that fireflies only live for a few weeks as adults. They spend most of their life as larvae underground. Alex decided to protect the forest so more fireflies could shine.
Now the forest is a safe home for these beautiful insects. People visit at night to watch the magical light show. Fireflies remind us that nature has many wonderful secrets.
En un bosque tranquilo por la noche, las luciérnagas iluminan el cielo oscuro. Estos pequeños insectos usan sus cuerpos para hacer una luz especial llamada bioluminiscencia.
