In 1968, in America, a scientist called Spencer Silver made a new glue. But the glue was very weak. It did not stick well. All his friends at work laughed and said, "This glue is useless!"
Spencer did not give up. He thought it was interesting. He put the glue away for a while.
Years later, another man at the same company, Art Fry, sang in a church choir. His paper bookmarks always fell out of his book. One day, he remembered Spencer's weak glue. He put a little on his bookmark. It stayed in place but he could move it easily!
Art was very happy. "This is perfect!" he said. The company tested the idea and made small yellow notes. They called them Post-it Notes.
Now, people use Post-it Notes everywhere – in offices, at home, and at school. A funny mistake changed the world!
