Verb Group 1 — Action Verbs (Present Simple)

Common Action Verbs — What People Do

Action verbs show what people, animals, or things do. Here are the most common ones for beginners:

Verb Group 2 — State Verbs (The Verb "To Be")

The Most Important Verb — "To Be"

The verb "to be" is very important in English. Use it to describe who or what something is, or how someone feels.

Adjectives describe nouns. These adjectives describe feelings and emotions:

⚠ Adjective PositionAdjectives come BEFORE the noun: "a big house," "a red apple." After "to be," they describe the noun: "The house is big."
