Ana is a student at the English/Spanish Language Center. Every morning, she wakes up at seven, gets dressed quickly, and eats a small breakfast. She walks to the center because she likes the fresh air.

When she arrives, she sits at her usual desk and opens her notebook. The teacher stands at the front and writes a new verb on the board. "Today we practice action verbs," he says. He asks the students to repeat each word clearly.

During the break, Ana and her classmate Marco talk about the lesson. Marco tells her that he always forgets irregular verbs. Ana laughs and shows him a small card where she writes the forms. "I carry this card everywhere," she says. Marco reads the card carefully and decides to make one too.

After the break, the teacher gives the class a short exercise. He plays an audio clip and asks the students to listen and write the verbs they hear. Ana listens carefully and answers every question. The teacher smiles and says, "Great work — you are really improving!"

Language Notes — Verbs in the Story:

🔵 "wakes, gets, eats, walks" → Present simple action verbs describing Ana's morning routine — they show regular, repeated habits.

🔵 "arrives, sits, opens" → More action verbs in the present simple, showing a sequence of actions at the classroom.

🟢 "stands, writes, says, asks, repeat" → Verbs the teacher uses during the lesson — notice 'stand → stood' is irregular in the past.

🟢 "talk, tells, forgets, laughs, shows, carries" → Verbs used during break — 'tells,' 'forgets,' and 'carries' follow third-person -s spelling rules.

🔴 "gives, plays, listens, answers, hears" → Verbs in the final exercise — 'give → gave' and 'hear → heard' are irregular in the past.

🟡 "improving" → Present continuous (is + verb-ing) — used here to show an action in progress. Compare: "You improve" (habit) vs. "You are improving" (right now).
